Dr Tai Phan

Dr Tai Phan is a specialist dermatologist and Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists.

Dr Phan has cared for patients with a wide range of skin conditions at St Vincent’s Hospital, Concord Repatriation General Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital and the Royal Newcastle Centre while completing his specialist dermatology training.

Dr Phan completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales in 2000, after which he worked as an intern and resident at Westmead Hospital. He then continued onto physician training as a medical registrar at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Westmead Hospital and Liverpool Hospital.

His interest in skin cancer research, effects of ultraviolet radiation, and population health led him to complete a Master of Medicine (Dermatology) at the University of Sydney in 2006 and a Master of Public Health at the University of New South Wales in 2005.

Over the past ten years, Dr Phan has presented and published his research in the international dermatology literature including the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, British Journal of Dermatology, and the Australasian Journal of Dermatology. He was awarded the Schering-Plough Award 2007 and the Best Poster Presentation at the Annual Scientific Meeting 2005 by the Australasian College of Dermatologists.

Dr Phan is currently a consultant dermatologist at the Skin and Cancer Foundation Australia, Westmead.

Dr Phan has special interests in surgical and non-surgical management of skin cancers, general medical dermatology, photodynamic therapy, acne, laser and light therapy for rosacea, vascular problems, acne scarring and photo-rejuvenation.
